Birth of Larp in the Arab World

About the project

“Birth of larp in the Arab world” is a project that aims to create a documenting book based on the larp-projects and communities in Palestine, Rashidieh, Lebanon and in the Nordic countries. So many exciting, beautiful and amazing larps and larp projects have been completed, and we want to remeber them, be inspired by them and learn from them.

«Our goal is to document and spread knowledge on how young people from the West Bank, Rashidieh and Norway use larp as a tool to tell stories about issues we as human beings face in the world we live in»

Larps have been made for fun, and larps have been made to tacke issues we don’t know how to talk about. Arab larps were played with people from all over the world, and some larps have been played all over the world. Some of them have changed dramatically when introduced in a different culture. Arab larps are made for children and for adults. Some of them have been inspired by great events, some handle every-day life. There have been larp festivals as well as great experiences in peoples living rooms.

We want to:
– Showcase how larp is used to discuss issues, build society and have fun

– Create pride about the larps and projects that have been done
– Inspire more people to create new ideas and make exciting new projects
– Strengthen the ability to use larp for different purposes, for example building civil society
– Spread knowledge of the difficulties faced in different cultures, with emphasis on Nordic and Arab countries.

We want to document all of the projects and collect them in a book, but we don’t want to do it ourselves. We want all of the people who have contributed to the still growing community in the larping Arab world to feel free to submit.

There are many ways to document larps. Do you want to contribute with your thoughts and experiences?
